PremiStar Releases Inaugural Sustainability Report

DEERFIELD, IL, May 30, 2023—PremiStar, a leader in commercial HVAC, plumbing, and building controls services, announced today the release of its inaugural 2022 Sustainability Report. The report highlights PremiStar’s initial progress, plans, and strategy for putting people first to enable a sustainable future.

“At PremiStar, sustainability is not just a fad or a buzzword—it is embedded in all aspects of our business,” says Joe Kirmser, PremiStar CEO. “We do not consider sustainability separate from the business or even as a unique initiative. It is the foundation upon which we operate, make key decisions, mitigate risk, and help our customers and the communities we serve flourish.”

Sustainability principles anchor PremiStar’s core business. The company improves the energy efficiency of customers’ facilities by repairing, replacing, and upgrading heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment. PremiStar is committed to helping customers achieve their goals and create a cleaner environment while investing in a workforce that can safely serve customers for years to come.

The report documents the progress PremiStar made in 2022 in four key areas:

Sustainability Program Development: PremiStar completed a materiality analysis that identified the seven factors most important to external and internal stakeholders. These factors, along with the adoption of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) framework, guided the development of the first sustainability report and helped inform the company’s strategies and initiatives. PremiStar is committed to transparently publishing key performance metrics associated with its sustainability strategy. To download a copy of the PremiStar 2022 Sustainability Report, click here.

Environmental Solutions: PremiStar baselined its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its business operations. The company will use its 2022 GHG baseline to measure operational improvement and the impact of its initiatives. Additionally, we present case studies to provide examples of how we help our customers generate GHG reductions and energy savings from an energy conservation project and a building automation system upgrade. We also provide a case study for a rooftop solar renewable energy project, which reduces GHG emissions.

Putting People First: PremiStar is committed to maintaining an open and inclusive culture, a focus on safety and well-being, and development opportunities to empower people to achieve great things, both personally and professionally. The company defined its policies and progress for key people-centric initiatives, including workforce health and safety; employee engagement, training, and development; subcontractor and vendor management; and community engagement.

Responsible Business Practices: To represent and promote the long-term interests of its stakeholders, PremiStar established a Sustainability & Risk Committee of the Board of Directors to provide board-level governance and oversight of PremiStar’s sustainability strategy, policies, initiatives, performance, and risks related to business ethics and whistleblower complaints & compliance; environmental, health, and safety; business continuity and risk management; and data security and customer privacy.
